MANILA, Philippines — Each New Year we receive an opportunity for a fresh start. It is like pushing the reset button for the next 365 days.

What are YOUR goals for 2012? Is it to create more peace and happiness for you and your family? Do you wish to create more balance in your life, have vibrant health, better relationships or more success in your career? Three stars have started their year by pressing that reset button.

Manny and Jinkee want a better relationship this 2012 to achieve peace and happiness for their family. And so Manny agreed on Jinkee’s proposal to start 2012 with spiritual cleansing. The couple had an exclusive seven-day retreat just for the two of them in their home in GenSan and was conducted by Pastor Jeric Soriano and Pastor Dennis Roldan. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Dennis Roldan, the subject of an Internet blog entitled “Torn And Frayed In Manila” as “Dennis Roldan: Actor, Politician, Gambler, Kidnapper” is now a man of God.

The same blog even wrote, “Dennis was rumored to be heavy into shabu… took a mistress who decided to help him kidnap the three-year-old boy of one of her Chinese-Filipino friends.” (http://tornandfrayed.typead.com/dennis_roldan_a.html) He found the Lord inside jail when a pastor came over to give Bible study lessons.

I had an embarrassing experience when I saw Pastor Dennis Roldan. Due to his clean haircut, shaved face and holy aura, I did not recognize the former actor. He was looking at me with a “Hey Giselle my friend, how are you?” look.

Giselle: Are you a secretary in the Cabinet, Sir? Did I host a show for you before because you look so familiar?

Dennis: Giselle, you don’t recognize me, it’s me Dennis Roldan.

Giselle: Oh my goodness, you look so clean and handsome. You’re my mother’s super duper crush. If she was not happily married with my dad, she’ll take you to the sack right this moment! Hahaha! Joke!

Dennis: I’m a pastor now. I’m here because I’m giving Manny and Jinkee an exclusive retreat.

Giselle: (to myself OMG! What did I just say! Gotta change my vibe 180 degrees now, think Giselle, think!)

Giselle to Dennis: Wow! God really chooses radical men to lead his flock. You’re the new Saul who became St. Paul! Good for you, Pastor, I’m so glad God has used your talents to glorify His name. God really works in marvelous ways. I have to go now. (Because I want to dig a hole in the ground and bury myself with embarrassment.)

Another addition to my Giselle-what-did-you-do-moments! Don’t blame me! How am I supposed to know that the worldly Dennis Roldan is now a pastor! He wasn’t wearing a T-shirt saying, “No more naughty jokes, I’m a pastor now!

Jericho Rosales takes up a course in NYC

Other stars wish to create more balance in their lives this 2012 by completing things that they were not able to do in their lifetime and for Jericho Rosales, it was to study in a university. I was with Jericho recently in a show in Taiwan and he told me that he just recently finished an acting course in New York University to further his depth in acting! I have been in a drama scene with Jericho and if you talk about his depth in acting, it is soooo deep that you can visit the underworld. Now that he furthered his studies in NYC to further his acting depth, how low can you go Jericho? But seriously, good for you Jericho.

Ina Raymundo is back in show business,  full time this time

Still other stars want to press their reset button on their careers. Nine years ago when Ina said “I do” to her Caucasian husband Brian Poturnak, she told me she will slowly retire from show business and concentrate in having children.

Ina became very choosy with her projects such that she would only have an average of one project a year and concentrated on her making not one, not two, not three but four beautiful children with Brian.

But this 2012, Ina has decided that it is time to press the reset button on her career altogether. She slowly inched back to show business December last year by judging on “Showtime” and shooting “Shake, Rattle & Roll 13.”

This January, she started taping “Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin,” an ABS-CBN teleserye starring Maja Salvador, Jason Abalos and Patrick Garcia. Ina has shed off “mommy” pounds making her the super sexy Sabado Nights Girl we have always remembered her to be.
