Filipinos’ satisfaction with the performance of President Duterte slightly waned but remained “very good” in the third quarter 2019 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results.

In the nationwide survey fielded over September 27 to 30 with 1,800 adult respondents, SWS found 78 percent of Filipinos satisfied, 9 percent undecided, and 13 percent dissatisfied with the performance of President Duterte.
Compared to June 2019, gross satisfaction with President Duterte fell by two points from 80 percent, gross indecision did not change, and gross dissatisfaction rose by one point from 12 percent.
These translate to a net satisfaction rating of +65 (percent satisfied minus percent dissatisfied), classified by SWS as “very good.”
SWS pointed out that President Duterte’s latest net rating was three points below his personal record-high “very good” +68 in June 2019.
The SWS terminology for net satisfaction ratings are translated as follows: +70 and above as “excellent,” +50 to +69 “very good,” +30 to +49 “good,” +10 to +29 “moderate,” +9 to –9 “neutral,” -10 to –29 “poor,” -30 to –49 “bad,” -50 to –69 “very bad,” and -70 and below “execrable.”
It pointed out that the three-point decline in President Duterte's net satisfaction rating from June 2019 to September 2019 was due to decreases in the rest of Luzon and Mindanao, combined with increases in Visayas and Metro Manila.
It stayed very good for the rest of Luzon, at +54 (71 percent satisfied, 17 percent dissatisfied) in September 2019, although down by 11 points from the personal record-high +65 (78 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) in June 2019.
It remained excellent in Mindanao, at +76 (85 percent satisfied, 9 percent dissatisfied) in September, even though it was down by five points from +81 (88 percent satisfied, 8 percent dissatisfied) in June.
However, it rose from very good to excellent in Visayas, at a new personal record-high +75 (84 percent satisfied, 9 percent dissatisfied, correctly) from +66 (77 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied). This surpassed the previous record of +73 in June 2017.
It is still very good in Metro Manila, at +66 (78 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) from +59 (73 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied).
Urban net satisfaction with President Duterte stayed very good, at +66 (78 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) in September 2019, down by 1 point from +67 (79 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) in June 2019.
Rural net satisfaction also remained very good, at +64 (77 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied), although down from +68 (80 percent satisfied, 11 peecent dissatisfied).
President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating also stayed very good in the class E or “poorest” at +57 (73 percent satisfied, 16 percent dissatisfied) in September 2019, even if it was down by 11 points from his personal best of +68 (81 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) in June 2019.
It remained very good in class D or “masa” at +66 (79 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied), although down from his personal record-high +68 (79 percent satisfied, 11 percent dissatisfied) three months ago.
However, it improved from very good to excellent in upper-to-middle class ABC, at a new personal record-high +70 (79 percent satisfied, 9 percent dissatisfied) from +58 (76 percent satisfied, 18 percent dissatisfied) in June. This surpassed the previous record of +69 in March 2019.
The President’s net satisfaction rating stayed very good among men, at +66 (78 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) in September but down by one point from +67 (80 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) in June 2019.
It also remained very good among women, at +64 (77 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) although down from the record-high +69 (79 percent satisfied, 11 percent dissatisfied) previously.
President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating meanwhile fell from excellent to very good among 35-44 year olds, at +63 (77 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) from the record-high +73 (81 percent satisfied, 8 percent dissatisfied).
It also went down from excellent to very good among 25-34 year olds, at +64 (77 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) from +72 (82 percent satisfied, 10 percent dissatisfied) in June.
Likewise, it downgraded from excellent to very good among those 55 years old and older, at +68 (80 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) from the record-high +70 (81 percent satisfied, 11 percent dissatisfied) in June.
However, it stayed very good among 18-24 year olds, at +64 (77 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) from +57 (74 percent satisfied, 17 percent dissatisfied) in June.
It also remained very good among 45-54 year olds, at +63 (76 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) but up from +61 (75 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) in June.
President Duterte's net satisfaction rating fell from excellent to very good among high school graduates, at +67 (79 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) down from the record-high +74 (82 percent satisfied, 9 percent dissatisfied), while it stayed very good among elementary school graduates, at +60 (74 percent, 14 percent dissatisfied) from +62 (76 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) in June.
It also remained very good among non-elementary school graduates, at +65 (78 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied), although down from +68 (81 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) in June, and among college graduates, at +67 (79 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) from +63 (76 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) previously.

Likewise, it downgraded from excellent to very good among those 55 years old and older, at +68 (80 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) from the record-high +70 (81 percent satisfied, 11 percent dissatisfied) in June.
However, it stayed very good among 18-24 year olds, at +64 (77 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) from +57 (74 percent satisfied, 17 percent dissatisfied) in June.
It also remained very good among 45-54 year olds, at +63 (76 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) but up from +61 (75 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) in June.
President Duterte's net satisfaction rating fell from excellent to very good among high school graduates, at +67 (79 percent satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied) down from the record-high +74 (82 percent satisfied, 9 percent dissatisfied), while it stayed very good among elementary school graduates, at +60 (74 percent, 14 percent dissatisfied) from +62 (76 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) in June.
