2 pilots survive Zambales crash
IBA, Zambales, Philippines — A Cessna training plane crash-landed along the seashore of Barangay Bangantalinga, here Thursday morning and, luckily, its two pilots survived with some injury, police said.
Senior Supt. Francisco Santiago Jr., Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, identified the pilots as Kalid Fageehi, 30, a citizen of Yemen; and Capt. Reynaldo Limpat Obeña, 38, of Better Living Subdivision in Parañaque City.
Obeña said the aircraft (RP-C2843 Cessna-152-II) was flying from Subic to its home base at Fly Fast School in Lingayen, when it encountered engine trouble around 9 a.m. and forced the pilots to take it down. (Franco G. Regala)
BFAR holds fish industry talk
DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-National Integrated Fisheries Technology and Development Center (BFAR-NIFTDC) conducted recently an aquaculture technology seminar at the Department of Education (DepEd)-Dagupan City Teachers’ Hall, here.
Co-organized by the office of Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, the seminar aims to generate more income for local folk by helping fish growers improve and sustain the city’s fish industry. Barangay officials, educators, Parents-Teachers’ Association (PTA) representatives were also among the participants. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
Baliuag displays Sto. Niño images
BALIUAG, Bulacan — Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy Alvarado lauded Thursday the display of different images of the Sto. Niño (Child Jesus) recently at the SM City mall here. It cannot be denied that the Fiesta Señor is one of the biggest crowd drawers in Cebu, Tondo, Manila and in any part of the Philippines,” Alvarado said.
The exhibit dubbed Bunying Sto. Niño Exhibit opened the other day. Like angels carved in stone, over two hundred images of the Sto. Niño owned by several families and individuals in town were displayed for the mall goers to see. (Freddie C. Velez)
CIDT commits to peace, order
PAKIL, Laguna — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT) assured the public Thursday that it was working to collect loose firearms in order to boost peace and order in the province.
Chief Inspector Orlando Castil, Laguna CIDT chief, gave the assurance following the arrest on Wednesday of a 33-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who yielded two firearms when CIDT agents raided his house in Barangay Case Real, here.

‘No frowning’ policy in Limay
LIMAY, Bataan — After receiving a Seal of Good Housekeeping from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Mayor Ver Roque enjoined all employees of the municipal government to extend “friendly service” and prohibited frowning.
In his New Year’s address to local government staff, Roque said that all agents of government must perform their duties with a happy disposition and that as public servants each of them should do away with the habit of frowning when buckling down to work and processing documents of citizens who are all taxpayers and contributors to local and national development.
