MANILA, Philippines — Love is believed to be a “thorny” issue! “Nakakasakit, nakakasugat, nakakatinik.” Now if the one you love believes in that, can there still be a happy ending?

This will be tackled by “My Cactus Heart,” top-billed by Matteo Guidicelli, Xian Lim and Maja Salvador. This is about a young woman (Maja as Sandy) from a dysfunctional family who doesn’t believe in “happily ever after.”

“This is Maja at her best,” went the verdict of those who’ve seen the rushes of “My Cactus Heart.”

As for Matteo, “My Cactus Heart” is his first starring role. As Karlo, we can now all see why Matteo could just be the next important male lead star.

Introducing in the movie is “it boy” Xian Lim as Bene, one of the two men who will try to win over Sandy’s heart.

An exciting love story combined with fresh casting, “My Cactus Heart” is directed by Enrico Santos opening in over 100 theaters on Jan. 25.

Red Horse Muziklaban finals set

A new rock act is about to make its mark as Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban Rock Challenge finals happens on Jan. 28 at the Aseana City open grounds.

Making it to the list of contenders is metal rock band Curbside, Mind of Clay, Zephaniah, Leviticus and David vs Goliath.

After winning their respective semis contests, these rock groups are keyed up to take their kick-ass performances during finale night for the chance to win the title Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban 2011 Grand Champion and One Million Pesos worth of prizes. A special prize of P50,000 will also be given to the band with the best Red Horse Beer jingle.

Joining the rock event are Red Horse Beer ambassadors Lovi Poe, Ely Buendia, and Pepe Smith.
