BUTUAN CITY - A 4.9 magnitude earthquake jolted Surigao del Sur province Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the earthquake was registered at 5:54 a.m. The epicenter was plotted 30 kilometers (km) northeast of Cortes town, Surigao del Sur province, it said. The earthquake had a depth of 22 km.
The Monday morning tremor in Surigao del Sur province was tectonic in origin and no tsunami alert was raised by the state agency.
The Cortes and Surigao del Sur disaster risk reduction and management councils there reported no damage or injury.
Meanwhile, a 4.1 magnitude tectonic earthquake was also registered at 7:04 a.m. and its epicenter was located only 2 km southwest of Cagwait town, also of Surigao del Sur province, with a depth of 19 km, Phivolcs said.
The Surigao del Sur disaster risk reduction and management council there also reported no damage or injury.
A 2.6 magnitude tremor was also registered at 2:46 a.m. and its epicenter was plotted 11 km southeast from the town proper of Governor Generoso, in Davao Oriental province, with a depth of 24 km, Phivolcs also said, in its bulletin.
