MANILA, Philippines — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OW WA) said Wednesday 110 out of the 296 Filipino crew members of the Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia that ran aground off the coast of Grosetto, Tuscany, Italy, last week will arrive in the country Thursday on separate flights.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration chief Carmelita Dimzon said 110 workers will arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport from Italy on Cathay Pacific flight CX907 and Thai Airways flight TG620.

On Friday, 50 more workers are expected to arrive on Cathay Pacific flight CX907 and Philippine Airlines flight PR301, she said.

Another 78 workers are scheduled to arrive on Saturday on three separate Singapore Airlines flights.

The rest of the workers are still being booked for their return flights to Manila, while the three injured seafarers identified as Ariel Pelderos, Maricris Locson, and Roselle Lucas, will be booked on their return flights after they recover from their injuries.

Dimzon said representatives from the OWWA will be present at the airport to assist the workers through the arrival processes. At the same time, the OWWA will brief the repatriated workers on the benefits they are bound to get from the government.

Representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Labor and Employment as well as the two manning agencies — Magsaysay Maritime Corp. and Dolphin Ship Management Inc. will also be on hand to help the arriving workers, she said.

Earlier, Costa Crociere S.p.A, the company which owns the cruise ship, gave its assurance that it will give full compensation to the Filipino crew members, refund their lost belongings, replace their lost cash, and issue a formal letter of undertaking detailing the company’s firm commitment.
