Celebrities join nationwide Unity Run
MANILA, Philippines — What would you give for peace, unity and harmony?
UNTV’s Daniel Razon suggests running.
Aptly entitled “Kahit Isang Araw Lang: Unity Run,” Razon’s advocacy is deemed as the biggest nationwide simultaneous run that will kick-off on Jan. 22 at SM Mall of Asia, Mendoza Park in Puerto Princesa, Cebu Business Park, Bacolod Panaad Stadium, Tacloban City Hall, SM City Davao and Butuan Sports Complex.
Expected runners number to 300,000 from the key cities mentioned.
Apart from its unity theme, the event is set to raise funds to provide computer classrooms for public schools all over the Philippines in partnership with the Department of Education through its “Adopt-a-School” program.
Razon’s “Takbo Para sa Libreng Kolehiyo” last year counted 50,000 participants.
Detractors question if Razon could actually launch 300,000 runners from the starting line. But the public servant remains unperturbed.
According to Razon and the organizers, the “Unity-Run” is getting nationwide support as well as from Filipinos living in South and North America, Singapore and London.
Local celebrities who agreed to run for a cause include OMB Chairman Ronnie Ricketts, Gary Estrada, Imee Marcos, Kier Legaspi, and Zoren Legaspi.
On the lighter side, “Kuya” Daniel found it interesting to invite showbiz personalities who have differences to settle to join the “Unity Run.” As their tag line goes, “be part of the solution.”

The newly established FDCP Cinematheque in Iloilo – located at B&C Square Bldg, Iznart cor. Solis St. – showcases the 27 entries in the Sineng Pambansa First Iloilo Short Film Competition launched in connection with the international film festival.
