Net 25 airs first teleserye

MANILA, Philippines — The Eagle Broadcasting Corporation, better known as Net 25, will launch its first drama series, “5 Girls And A Dad” today, Jan. 23.
The drama, which airs Monday to Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., treats the issues of single parent families.
In the series, Enzo (Richard Quan) takes care of five daughters whose ages range from 17 to newborn. The mother, Veron (Lara Quigaman), died when she was giving birth to the fifth child, Angel.
The five daughters are Mimay (Dixie Nedic), the eldest; Anna Lisa (Kate Nizedel), Alex (Abby Quimlat), Valerie (child star Chesca “Cruzita” Salcedo), and Angel (Kiane Palmes).
Also in the cast are Leo Martinez and Vangie Labalan.
Manolo de Lim, in-charge of programming, said that the teledrama is “not the usual fare which shows more flesh as being done in mainstream teleseries.”
Director Elson S. Montalbo said the show does not feature any violence. “It is values-oriented,” he stressed. “Of course, we do not have any monopoly of values, but we want to make a difference.”
Describing his role, Richard Quan said: “Emotionally, physically demanding. I accepted the role not necessarily for the talent fee but because the character is more interesting, and I am excited about it.”
Written by award-winning veteran writer Lulhati Bautista, “5 Girls And A Dad” will have simulcast screenings in five separate barangays or areas in different parts of Metro Manila from Jan. 23 to 28. Screenings will be done in one public area per day where the target public can watch the teledrama as it is aired on Net 25.
Today, Jan. 23, screening is at Barangay Commonwealth; on Tuesday, Jan. 24, Barangay Pinagbuhatan; Wednesday, Jan. 25, Taguig City University; and Friday, Jan. 27, Oreta Sports Complex, Malabon; and Saturday, San Andres Sports Complex, Manila.

Hansen Nichols live at Casino Filipino
“Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2” scholar Hansen Nichols takes centerstage with his show “Hansen Nichols Live” this January at Casino Filipino Tagaytay (Jan. 25, 9 p.m.), and Airport Casino Filipino (Jan. 26, 9 p.m.).
Hansen continues to live his dream as a singer. “Many opportunities came after ‘PDA Season 2.’ I got to perform and tour around the Philippines which have always been my dream; I guested and performed on various programs on the Kapamilya network; and met many of my idols that I grew up watching and listening to. I also got the chance to record and be part of a Gold record album. I was able to act in several teleseryes. I hope to do more in the future including a movie and to finally release my solo debut album.”
Hansen was born in Burlingame, California and graduated from University of San Francisco with an Economics degree. While inside the Academy, Hansen impressed the audience with his rendition of famous songs like “Kailangan Kita,” “I Believe I Can Fly,” “My Chérie Amour,” “Bailamos,” and “Hold On.”
Hansen is a cancer survivor. “I want to be remembered as a successful singer with a lot of heart. It’s important for me to reach success as a singer because it would prove that even though I was against all odds, I didn’t let anyone tell me that I couldn’t sing. I never gave up and never gave up hope. It may have taken me awhile to reach that success but inevitably, I did.”
