NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) — Over 2,000 residents of Himamaylan and Kabankalan City recently availed of free medical check-up by the Far Eastern University Medical Alumni Society of Southern California (FEUMASSC) in a four-day free medical and surgical mission in cooperation with the Economic Enterprise and Development Department (EEDD).

The FEUMASSC performed 59 major and 24 minor surgeries like Total Abdominal Hysterectomy and Bilateral Salpingo Oopherectomy (TAHBSO), Thyroidectomy, Mastectomy, Hysterectomy, Herniorraphy, and Hemorroidectomy, among others at the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City.

Aklanon Nurses

KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) — The Department of Health (DoH) is ready to hire Aklanon nurses for its third batch of servers in the rural areas under its Registered Nurses for Health Enhancement and Local Service (RNHeals) program.

Aklan’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) manager Vivian R. Solano said applicants could apply in the internet by logging on to www.chd6.doh.gov.ph. Only nurses with valid Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) licenses are eligible to apply.

Applicants should be physically fit, not over 30 years at the time of deployment, residents of identified municipalities, has not received remuneration in the practice of the nursing profession for the past 5 years.

No Break

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — Effective last week, the Capiz provincial government, particularly its front line departments, will now be under a no noon-break policy to ensure continuous service.

Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr. has directed department heads, chiefs of hospitals and offices to adopt an appropriate work schedule for employees.

“You are to assign one or two personnel to entertain the transacting public during the 12 noon-to-1P.M. period,” he said.

Tanco also ordered the Provincial Governor and Provincial Social Welfare and Development offices to set up a senior citizen’s lane or desk.

E.D.C. Donation

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — The newly constructed Rural Health Building has been formally turned over by the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) to the local government unit of Valencia Thursday, Jan. 19 last week.

Valencia residents can now expect to benefit from a modern Rural Health building providing better health services. The building, costing P20 million, has a floor area of 742 square meters.

The building was built under the EDC’s corporate social responsibility program, and houses a recovery room and emergency landing pad, among others.

Valencia town hosts EDC’s geothermal facility and receives royalty taxes from the company.

P.A. Gains

CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) — Col. Oscar Lopez, Commanding Officer of the Philippine Army’s 803rd Brigade based in Catarman, Northern Samar, presented the latter’s combat and non-combat accomplishments during the recent Northern Samar Peace and Development Forum here.

Combat operations included 35 encounters resulting in the recovery of 26 firearms broken down into 10 high powered and 16 low powered firearms with no losses on the government side. T

he Brigade also discovered 86 abandoned rebel camps and seized nine inhabited such camps, including a regional camp at the boundary of the three Samar provinces.

Also cited were the Brigade’s non-combat ventures in 36 barangays resulting in the discovery of a number of insurgency-exploited issues in conflict-affected barangays.
