The Philippines’ coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case count hit the 74,000-mark on Thursday, July 23, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

The DOH said that 2,200 more people caught the disease, boosting the nation’s case tally to 74,390. The number of people who are still receiving treatment is at 48,136.
The tally on recoveries currently stands at 24,383 after another 760 patients were successfully treated. The deaths related to COVID-19, however, increased by 28 to 1,871.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, meanwhile, defended the measures being undertaken by the DOH in curbing the spread of the disease.
,” she added.
Vergeire said that it is expected that the cases will shoot up because of the relaxation of community restrictions in the country.
,” said Vergeire
Practice health standards even at home
The Health official reminded the public to also observe the minimum health standards even if they are at home.
“Lagi rin naman nating pinapaalala you stay at home but you still do the different things that has to be done as preventive measures. ,” said Vergeire in a separate media forum.
“ we have asked people stay at home, it does not mean na hindi ka na gagawa ng pag-iingat kapag ikaw ay nasa bahay ,” she added.
Vergeire said that those who are going out must be careful not to bring the virus to their respective homes.
,” she said.
