Angeles building 1st city college

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga, Philippines — City officials here on Tuesday led the blessing and the ceremonial time-capsule laying of the soon to open first-ever city college at the four-hectare Agyu Tamu Sports Complex in Barangay Pampang.

 Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan was joined by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega Cabigting and members of the city council during the symbolic laying of the time-capsule at the City College of Angeles (CCA) whose construction is now in full swing.

Pamintuan confirmed that the CCA’s construction is now at 30 percent and will provide courses which will match the needs of investors and business locators inside the Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ) and the immediate community. (Franco G. Regala)

Kids with special needs compete

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — Three days of fun-packed activities that showcase the talents of children with special needs in the Southern Tagalog region began Thursday at the Ynares Center here.

Some 1,500 Special Education (SPED) pupils from different parts of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) converged at the Ynares Center to participate in this year’s Regional Special Games and Festival of Talents for Children with Special Needs. (Nel B. Andrade)

Binmaley ready for 'Sigay Fest'

BINMALEY, Pangasinan — This year’s celebration of the 2nd Sigay (Harvest) Festival will include a fishing tournament dubbed “Kambog ed Kapokokan” when the festivities kick off on January 29. In Pangasinan, the word “kambog” means the act of catching fish in a drained fishpond termed as “pokok” by locals.

The tournament is popular in many fishing villages, particularly this town which is known for its aquaculture industry. Binmaley Mayor Lorenzo Cerezo came up with this event as part of the festival activities to promote the town as the “Seafood Capital of the North.” (Liezle Basa Iñigo)

Skills contest on in Bulacan

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — Both students and their trainers are competing in the ongoing Central Luzon Regional Skills Competition at the Capitol Gym, here, which was opened last Wednesday by Gov. Wilhelminio M. Sy Alvarado, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director-General Joel Villanueva, and TESDA-Central Luzon Regional Director Teodoro M. Gatchalian.

The competition categories are mechanical engineering design, IT-software, welding, web design, electrical installation, cabinet making, joinery (furniture making and carpentry), ladies/men hairdressing, beauty therapy, automobile technology, cooking, restaurant service, refrigeration, graphic design, electronics, information network cabling, mechatronics and fashion technology. Cavite posts 'no-crime day'

CAMP GEN. GARCIA, Cavite — There were no major crimes reported in the four cities and 19 towns of Cavite in the last 48 hours starting Tuesday, the Police Provincial Office (PPO) here reported Thursday. It was the fourth time that the PPO reported a “no-crime day” in their daily journal.

The PPO Public Information Office (PIO) and Tactical Operation Center (TOC) said that there was no crimes reported anywhere in Cavite starting 8 a.m. Tuesday until 8 a.m. Thursday. The PIO also posted "zero-crime" on January 2, 5 and 10. (Anthony Giron)
