BUTUAN CITY - Two mild earthquakes shook Surigao del Sur province on Wednesday, the Philippines Institute of Vocnology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
No injuries, fatalities or serious damage to infrastructure were reported.
The Phivolcs said a 3.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 3:08 a.m.
The epicenter was plotted only 1 kilometer (km) away northwest of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur with a depth of 42 km.
A 2.3 magnitude tremor was also registered at 4:10 a.m.
The epicenter was traced only 8 kilometers southwest of nearby Carrascal town of that same province, with a depth of 106 kilometers, the state agency said.
The two earthquakes were tectonic in origin, it said.
