'Britain's Got Talent' alum Charlie Green set to visit Manila anew

MANILA, Philippines — International singing sensation Charlie Green will be back in Manila on Feb. 7 in order to promote his new album, appear as guest at a major concert and hold his own Valentines Day show.
The 14-year old Green's new album is titled “Rainbow,” which is the follow up to 2010’s “A Friend Like You” from Viva Records. From his big band and pop-standard sound, Green has branched out into doing straight pop, as heard on the upbeat title track and on his remake of Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Go.” He also rehashed a Tagalog song, Nonoy Zuniga’s “Kamusta Ka.”
Besides his album promo related activities, Green will have a couple of live shows. These are his stint at the Sharon Cuneta-Martin Nievera Valentines concert “Once In A Lifetime” on Feb. 11 at Resorts World Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Theatre, and on his own show on Feb. 14 at the Eastwood Mall Open Park. Green will also visit the Ayala Abreeza in Davao City on Feb.
But perhaps the main draw of Charlie Green’s return to Manila is that people want to know how the young man has grown up since he was last here. Recall that part of Green’s appeal, ever since his first appearance on “Britain’s Got Talent,” has been his image of a cute, suit- wearing boy who can sing standards with aplomb. Today,
Green is a lean and tall boy standing at 5 foot and 9 inches.
But naturally, people would also be interested on how he sounds. Ferdie Cruz, marketing executive of TV for Viva Records, said that “at first we were concerned how he would sound being in his mid-teens, but thankfully his voice dialed in at a pleasant pitch and he still sounds good despite the changes.”
