Delos Santos ruled the men’s 61kg division after heaving a total lift of 259 kgs, closely edging Turkmenistan’s Perhat Bagtyyarov (258kgs) and Vietnam’s K Brum (255kgs). The PH bet was actually running fifth after the snatch event with a 110kg lift, but flexed his might in clean and jerk where dominated with ease for the gold with 149kg en route to reigning supreme in his weight class. The 17-year-old Colonia, for her part, captured the snatch gold in the women’s 45kg with a 72kg lift, but fell short in clean and jerk with a fourth-place performance of 83kg to settle for the silver medal in total with 155kg. She was only one kilo behind eventual gold medalist Ogulshat Amanova of Turkmenistan, who posted a 156kg total lift. Delos Santos and Colonia’s victories came after Prince Kiel Delos Santos and Eron Borres made a 1-2 finish in the men’s 49kg the other day.
