ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The strong earthquake that hit Visayas Monday slightly damaged Iloilo buildings.

The six-storey Iloilo Provincial Capitol had several cracks on the wall of the ground floor, just above the portrait of Iloilo governors.

The seven-storey new Iloilo City Hall reportedly also had cracks, but there was no confirmation from contractor FF Cruz & Co. Inc.—Freyssinet Filipinas Corp., which still has jurisdiction of the building.  Several departments of the city government are already occupying the building.

Both Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. and Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog officially called off office hours after employees were evacuated.
