Cattle Distribution

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture (DA) recently distributed at least 441 cattle to the farmer beneficiaries in the province. This program is part of the livelihood project of the Provincial Government and DA.

Earlier, Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala promised to render assistance to farmer sectors here during his visit recently by way of share stocks of cattle. The cows programs and distribution were led by Gov. Victor Yap with the cooperation of local agriculture office here, which has carried-out several measures to ensure that beneficiaries would take care of the cattle. (Franco G. Regala)

PNP Trees

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M. FLORENDO, La Union — The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) commited themselves with the program “Pulis Makakalikasan: 10 Milyong Puno, Pamana sa Kinabukasan," where they have already planted a total of 3,638 assorted seedlings in various areas of the region from February 1 to 4.

This is just a part of the initial activities relative to the launching of the PNP project dubbed “Pulis Makakalikasan:, which calls for the PNP to plant ten million trees, with each PNP personnel planting six trees per month from February 1, 2012 to February 28, 2013. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)

Peso Award

GUIGUINTO, Bulacan — The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) here notched the Best PESO award under the 1st Class Municipality category recently at the Lewis Grand Hotel, Angeles City, Mayor Isagani Pascual said Tuesday.

Pascual said, this town received the citation from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Regional Office 3 which recognized the most exemplary PESOs in Central Luzon during the PESO Year-End Planning Assessment on January 25 to 26. (Freddie C. Velez and Franco G. Regala)

Marinduque Anniversary

BOAC, Marinduque — The island province of Marinduque will celebrate its 92nd Foundation Day on Feb. 21 as announced by the provincial government on Tuesday.

Marinduque governor Carmencita Reyes said that the celebration will be more spectacular for the first time than before by incorporating showcasing on tradition, arts, culture and history.

“These will show everyone that we were able to stand on our own and proud to be Marinduqueños and what we have become,” she said. (Danny Estacio)

Plastic Ban

PAGBILAO, Quezon — No plastic bag, is the main objective on the proposed ordinance prohibiting the use of plastic bags, styrophor in this municipality upon deliberation of the municipal council, here, learned Tuesday.

Councilor Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic introduced before the member of the municipal council that the primary concern of her ordinance is to control the use of plastic bags, stryrofoam and similar materials to prevent potential serious ecological imbalance particularly in the municipality’s creeks, canals, rivers, lake and other waterways.
