Petition To Cancel Ramona's Passport Filed
MANILA, Philippines — The Paranaque Regional Trial Court (RTC) is expected to issue a decision regarding the cancellation of the Philippine passport of Ramona Bautista, one of the accused in the murder of her brother, Ramgen Bautista Revilla, and wounding of Janelle Manahan, within the week until next week, said Manahan's counsel on Wednesday.
To prevent Bautista from fleeing from one country to another, Manahan filed through her lawyers a petition to cancel her passport. Along with the petition was a request to put all the other accused on the hold departure list. According to Atty. Resty Mendoza, the other party was given a deadline to submit a comment on the motion to cancel passport until Wednesday. He said that they have yet to receive a copy of Bautista's comment but Manahan's camp is hoping that the decision of Judge Fortunito Madrona of Paranaque City RTC Branch 274 will come out soon.
"If the court approves the cancellation, the Department of Foreign Affairs will be furnished with a copy. Once that happens, Bautista will become an undocumented alien. Still, we cannot have her deported because we do not have an extradition treaty with Turkey," explained Mendoza.
However, Mendoza said that they have to ascertain if Bautista does not have a Turkish passport. He noted that if she has a Turkish passport, she could still move from one place to another especially in Europe. Meanwhile, Genelyn Magsaysay, mother of Bautista, assured that her daughter will return to the country in due time.
