'Baguio kid' is new PRO-Cordillera director

By Zaldy Comanda CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – The new head of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera is a proud son of Baguio City and he vowed on Monday to seek and destroy all marijuana plantations in the highlands region. (Zaldy Comanda/MANILA BULLETIN) Nana, who hails from Mapandan, Pangasinan, was raised and educated in Baguio City before entering the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), from which he graduated in 1985. Reminiscing his stint as provincial director (PD) of Abra and then Apayao a decade ago, Nana expressed his pleasure to take on his new assignment, succeeding Chief Supt. Edward Carranza – now assigned as RD of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon). “I am thankful for being given the chance to be back to serve in the Cordillera. Probably there is a reason I am brought back as I no longer expected to be back in the region. I will give my best and all my energy to succeed and overcome the challenge to maintain peace and order in the region,” Nana said. The PRO-Cor director said he will strengthen the implementation of the enhanced managing intelligence police operation as he called on all unit commanders and the staffs to cooperate and help in the enforcement of the programs of Team PNP. He also took special note of the campaign against illegal drugs. “Until there are drug-affected barangays, until there are marijuana cultivators on our mountains, criminal in our area of jurisdiction, we will not stop. We will continue with the fight against criminality and illegal drugs,” Nana said.
