Rocco Nacino to film second indie flick

MANILA, Philippines – After starring in the award-winning “Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” with Paolo Avelino last year, Rocco Nacino is now gearing up for his second indie film project, “The Lam-Ang Experiment.”
As the title implies, “The Lam-Ang Project” is based on the Ilocano epic poem “Biag ni Lam-Ang” by Pedro Bucaneg. It tells the story of an “extraordinary” man named Lam-Ang, who had the ability to speak upon birth, and his quest to avenge his father’s death. Producer and Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos said in an interview last month that the movie will have a "futuristic and sci-fi" approach.
In an interview with PEP posted on Feb. 8, Rocco said that he auditioned for the lead role when he was invited to do so.
“I didn't think na makukuha ko ‘yun, kasi it was more like playing around. Kasi I didn't really know kung paano ‘yung audition,” he admitted, adding that he only followed the director's instructions during the try-out.
Rocco described the audition process as “really funny” and “really nice.”
“Pero ang laking bagay pala niya, so it turned out to be great! I was really happy with the audition,” he said.
Even though filming won't start until April in Ilocos, Rocco is already preparing for it by going on a diet and working out. He is also scheduled to undergo arnis training soon.
“I have to have, 20 days yung shoot ko, e, kailangan diretso siya. So, 10 days I'll be shooting straight. 10 days din sa Manila, straight din,” he related.
Rocco deemed it “an honor” to be part of “The Lam-Ang Experiment,” Imee's follow-up to the film “Pinta*Kasi.”
“It's gonna be a first in Philippine film. Ang nakikita ko'ng peg is parang ‘Beowoulf,’ gano'n 'yung dating,” he said.
Rocco looks forward to meeting the movie’s director and producers, as quoted by PEP, “Para malaman kung ano yung character ko at saka gusto kong makakuha ng script para mapag-aralan na."
