World Slasher Cup 2 set Monday at Big Dome

One week of world-class cockfighting will be held at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum beginning on Monday via the staging of the World Slasher Cup 2 Invitational 9-Cock Derby. Pitgames Media, Inc. CEO Manny Berbano said close to 200 entries are vying for supremacy in the event dubbed as “Olympics of Cockfighting.” It will be capped by a battle royale on June 2 where known cockfighting personalities are expected to field the aces with Berbano himself joining the fray with partners Doc Ayong Lorenzo, 2019 WPC Big Event champ Rey Canedo of Davao and Cris Sioson of Bataan. Derby champions are all raring to equal the 9-0 record of Gov. Claude Bautista of Mindanao and American Cris Copas of Kentucky, USA (solo champion last February). Others are seven-time WSC champion Patrick “idol” Antonio and other past WSC winners like Frank Berin, vice mayor Jubee Navarro, Rey Briones, Nene Araneta, Peping Ricafort, Joey Sy, Noel Jarin, Dicky Lim, Biboy Enriquez, Ito Ynares, Anthony Lim, Vergil Intino, Lawrence Wacnang, Art de Castro, Magno Lim, Ed Apari, Honey Yu, Joey delos Santos and Rikki Reyes. WSC supporters are Thunderbird, PitGames Media Inc., TV5’s “All New Tukaan,” ABS-CBN Action + Sports, “Sagupaan,” “Sabong Nation,” “Sabong Pilipinas,” “Bakbakan Na TV.” The Sabong Chronicles, Journal Group, Pilipino Mirror, Saksi Ngayon and Diaryo Bomba. Meantime, participants, reigning Bb. Pilipinas beauty queens and members of media gather for today’s traditional “Pitting of Roosters” at Versailles Tent of Novotel Manila. Tickets are available at the TicketNet counter (yellow gate) of the Big Dome.
