Basic Work Safety Standard Training
MANILA, Philippines — In an effort to reduce the number of work-related accidents in Mindanao this year, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has launched a series of seminars to train at least 162 participants on basic work safety standards in Davao and the South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City (SOCCSKSAGEN) region.
DoLE Region 11 Regional Director Joffrey Suyao said in a statement their regional office was able to orient an additional 46 trainees to augment DoLE current pool of safety officers through its basic occupational safety and health (BOSH) training.
Under BOSH, safety officers are trained to ensure workplaces will comply with DOLE’s mandatory safety and health program and be free from work-related hazards.
They will be also tapped to promote and protect labor rights in the grass root level.
