Leyble Moves To Ease Traffic
ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Philippines — In a bid to rid the city of traffic obstructions, especially at busy intersections, the city government has revived the citywide ban of jeepney “barkers.” Mayor Danilo Leyble instructed traffic enforcers under the city’s Public Order and Safety Department (POSD) to begin operations against barkers this weekend, particularly at Circumferential Road corner M.L. Quezon Street; Masinag Junction; P. Oliveros Street; Lico’s Park; and C. Lawis Extension including the areas in the vicinity of the cathedral. (Nel B. Andrade)
Renal Center Gets Big Boost
ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — Three additional dialysis machines were installed at the Angeles City Renal Care Unit (ACRCU), bringing to 18 the total machines used for patients here suffering from kidney disease. Dr. Ramon Jose Suarez, ACRCU head, said the new machines will supplement the current operation of the renal center and, more importantly, accommodate more patients undergoing dialysis treatment. Two of the machines were donated by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) while the other machine was given by Juan Nepomuceno Sons Incorporated and Holy Angel University. Sampaguita Festival
SAN PEDRO, Laguna — This municipality’s annual Sampaguita Festival will celebrate its fourth anniversary coinciding with the observance of the feast day of its patron saint, St. Peter. Mayor Calixto Cataquiz said the nine-day celebration of the festival will start Monday with the launching of an art exhibit by Susi and Agnos, the San Pedro Artists’ group, at the new Municipal Hall and a cultural presentation by students of the Immaculate Heart of Mary School. Other activities will be for the week will be a mass wedding; an Inter-school Cheer Dance Competition; a students’ parade; a Mr. and Ms. Young San Pedro pageant; a Guam, USA-San Pedro Youth Encounter Dog Show; a mixed martial arts amateur fighting championship; and a Sampaguita lei-making contest. Adamson Cites BM 'Teri Onor'
ABUCAY, Bataan — In recognition of his accomplishments and contribution to public welfare, Bataan Board Member Dexter Dominguez, more popularly known as comedian “Teri Onor,” was conferred the “Adamsonian Award” by his alma mater. Dominguez received the award on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of Adamson University at its campus theater on Taft Avenue, Manila. Adamson University, run by the Congregation of the Mission led by Vincentian priests and brothers, also hosted a dinner for Dominguez and other awardees at the “1st Distinguished Adamson Reunion” held at the historic landmark Manila Hotel. 691 BNB Stores In Pangasinan
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The establishment of 691 Botika ng Bayan (BNB) stores last year has made safe, quality, and affordable medicines more accessible to residents of Pangasinan with a ratio of one BNB serving every two barangays. Provincial Health Officer (PHO) Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman said the number of BNBs has even surpassed the 667 target set by the Department of Health based on population ratio and aims to serve some 1.5 million clients in 28 municipalities.
