MANILA, Philippines - Days before Valentine's Day, showbizlandia was abuzz with break-up rumors involving two "tried-and-tested" showbiz couples: Dr. Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho, Jr., and Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco.

Vicki calls it quits with Hayden

It seems that a Vicki-Hayden wedding, slated for this year, is now less likely. About eight months since they announced their engagement, the doctor to the stars purportedly ended her relationship with Hayden, allegedly because of former singer-actress Nancy Castiglione.

In a statement related by Butch Francisco on "Startalk," Feb. 11, Vicki said, "It is over, I hope. Yes, we had been fighting. Regarding Nancy, I think it's true. I'm letting him go so that they don't have to be hiding-hiding anymore."

While she's not blaming anybody for how things went, Vicki deemed, "This was bound to happen because he's young. Yes, we were in love but I'm no ilusyonada to think that it will be for life given the age gap."

She nevertheless remains concerned over Hayden's welfare, appealing to the public to not be too tough on the latter.

"...I just want people to stop picking on him. He was so good to me and made me so happy," said Vicki.

The controversial cosmetic doctor then turned wistful, saying, "Sometimes, relationships just don't work out.."

Hayden has earlier exempted Nancy from the issue via his Twitter, saying that she did not cause his misunderstanding with Vicki. The perfume entrepreneur has also apologized to the very much-married Nancy over being dragged into the brouhaha, and also maintained that he loves Vicki so.

It was via the same online platform that Vicki announced that Nancy can already "openly date" Hayden. "You have my blessings. Hope you'll both be happy," she also tweeted on Feb. 10.

Many were appalled over this recent development on Vicki and Hayden's relationship, which overcame a huge storm in 2009 with the circulation of the latter's sex videos with various women. A day before Vicki's explosive tweet, she and Hayden were seen happy together, watching the musical "Mamma Mia!" at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, according to "The Buzz."

Reports say that Hayden and Nancy got extra close earlier last year and rumor had it that the two were seen getting cozier than usual with each, for friends, that is. Entertainment editor-"Startalk" host Ricky Lo also had a source that purportedly saw Hayden and Nancy together last year at Glorietta mall, Makati.

Shocked over being in the spotlight anew after she left showbiz to focus on building a family and taking a different career path, Nancy broke her silence via a live phone interview on "Startalk."

"The truth of the matter is, Hayden and I, we speak over Twitter. Everything that we converse about is over Twitter so everyone can really see. And actually, Dr. Vicki has also been mentioned in my tweets, so I don't know what's going on and I don't wanna comment. I don't wanna get into their relationship. That's their business… I have my own family, my own career that I'm excelling in. That's where I'm at. I really can't comment on these other things because it's simply not true…" she said.

Nancy, who has two sons, likewise insisted that she's clueless about "what's going on," yet is wiling to "have coffee" with Vicki and Hayden to settle the matter once and for all.

"I'm here for both of them if they want to reach out and talk to me," said she.

Apparently, there will be no more Valentine's Day date for the ex-couple in Los Angeles, California, as they had earlier planned according to reports. Vicki left a parting tweet on Feb. 12, which read:

"On my way to Los Angeles for my first valentine alone . Maybe I'll learn to love myself."

What went wrong between Melai and Jason

After a two-year relationship that bloomed inside the "Pinoy Big Brother" house, Melai and Jason have purportedly headed to Splitsville. Actress Kaye Abad, who is Jason's co-star in the afternoon series, "Angelito: Batang Ama," allegedly caused Melason's relationship to cave in. She was allegedly seen on a date with Jason in Cebu after a Sinulog Festival show graced by some Kapamilya stars.

Jason brushed off the "date" rumors via a statement posted on darlasauler.com, Jan. 21. He even said that Melai and Kaye were "super cool" with each other during the Sinulog show. "Sila palagi magka-usap," he said in the blog entry.

Kaye likewise laughed off the issue, saying in the same darlasauler.com story, "Mahal ko yang si Melai at Jason. At going strong sila!"

While her "sweety pie" seemed composed addressing the rumor, Melai was not in a celebratory mood. In a separate entry on darlasauler.com published also on Jan. 21, the comedienne admitted that she has not spoken with Jason for about a week. The reason for their lovers' quarrel, however, was not revealed in the blog entry. She likewise lamented that Jason was noticeably sweeter to others than to her.

As far as speculations go revolving Melai and Jason's supposed split, it seems the latter's alleged "pambababae" (with his fellow "PBB" housemate Paul Jake Castillo allegedly accompanying him in his escapades) has been on top of the list, as well as his seeming coldness towards Melai.

While both camps have yet to give a direct confrontation or denial about the alleged breakup, "The Buzz" host Toni Gonzaga made profound remarks about her good friend Melai's situation.

"Based sa huling conversation na nagkaroon kami ni Melai... walang third party. 'Yun ang sinabi niya sa akin. HIndi totoo 'yung third party and hindi rin totoo 'yung kay Kaye Abad," said Toni.

She noted, however, that the estranged sweethearts are going through something "serious."

"Ire-respeto ko 'yung kung anuman 'yung gustong mangyari muna ni Melai sa ngayon, nag mag-heal muna siya, on her own," the singer-actress added.

Toni also imparted an advice she had given to Melai.

"You have to know your worth, Melai. Kailangan tingnan mo muna 'yung sarili mo, pahalagahan mo muna 'yung sarili mo bago ka magpahalaga sa ibang tao. Kasi nagtatrabaho siya para sa pamilya niya, para sa mga kamag-anak niya, and then sa ibang tao. Sabi ko sa kanya na it's about time naman na siguro mahalin mo rin naman ang sarili mo," said she.

It was reported in the same "Buzz" episode that Jason had allegedly resigned from the gag show "Banana Split," where Melai also appears regularly. The past two episodes of the late-night program also saw Melai being teased by some of her cast mates about the state of her heart.
