Rex Smith Spends Romantic Evening In Manila

MANILA, Philippines — International artist Rex Smith is back in Manila for a Valentine’s Day show slated tonight at the Midas Hotel Atrium.
Rex, who has performed in the country several times in the past, is set to rekindle his love affair with Filipino music lovers who’ve made his concerts in such venues as the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, PICC and Hard Rock Café sold-out events.
Rex will serenade his audience with signature hits “Simply Jessie,” “Lets Make A Memory,” “Forever,” “Everlasting Love” and “You Take My Breath Away” among others.
Last year, Rex played lead in the musical “Cradle Will Rock” and still goes on concert tours.
On TV, Rex played lead in the series “Street Hawk,” as the comic character Daredevil in “The Trial of the Incredible Hulk” and as Darryl Crawford in CBS daytime drama “As the World Turns.” On stage, he appeared in “Grease,” “The Pirates of more Penzance,” the Canadian production of “Sunset Boulevard” and “Kiss Me, Kate” to name a few.
As to recording, his latest is a CD entitled “You Take My Breath Away.”
“Rex Smith Live at the Midas Hotel Atrium” is presented by Steve O’ Neal Production in cooperation with Midas Hotel as official residence, Hard Rock Café, San Miguel Beer, RJ100 FM, Business Mirror, Manila Bulletin, Istanbul Cymbals, Taye Drums, and Lazer.
Annie Brazil At Merk’s Place
Asia’s Queen of Jazz Annie Brazil takes center stage today, Feb. 14 at Merk’s Place in a show titled, “Up Close and Romantic with Annie Brazil.”
Annie, who recently performed at the 4th Annual San Francisco Filipino American Jazz Festival, returns to the Historic Filmore Jazz District. Other featured artists at Yoshi’s SF were Winston Raval, Lena Sunday, Ann Marie Santos and SF Pinoy Jazz Quartet with Rey Cristobal, Ben Luis, Melecio Magdaluyo and Richard Aguon.
Other featured artists are Pat Castillo, Emcy Corteza, Elhmir Saison, Atty. Ferdie Topacio and Jayps Nicolas.
Merk’s Place is located at 2F Colbella Arcade, 910 Arnaiz Avenue (Pasay Road), Makati City.
Newcomers Get Break In TV Show
Isaac James D. Jimenez, Paulo J. Villaruel and Ivy Joy D. Jimenez are making TV rounds guesting in shows like “Walang Tulugan.”
Isaac and Paulo, both 17, are models trying to snatch more mainstream gigs while Ivy, 14, started performing in corporate events before getting noticed via the German Moreno-hosted show.
All three upstarts are into singing, dancing and hosting.
Love Radio In Triple Love Month Celebration
The top-rating FM station 90.7 Love Radio celebrates its anniversary on Valentine’s Day with a power-packed lineup of today’s most popular FM jocks on board.
With “Tambalang Balasubas at Balahura” (Chris Tsuper and Nicole Hyala) dishing out daily breakfast fare with their raucous laughter, mornings are made more complete with the return of Christine Dera, now on board from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Robin Sienna follows suit, with the tandem of Diego Bandido and Emma Harot at 3 p.m. Papa Jack’s “True Love Conversations” and “Wild Confessions” round up the daily radio serving.
