Little League Set In Clark

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines — The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) and Little League Philippines (LLP) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the staging of the “2012 Little League Philippines Series” at the Clark Freeport from April 8 to 16. CDC President Felipe Antonio B. Remollo and LLP District Administrator Jose Luis R. Gomez signed the agreement last February 7 during the regular forum spearheaded by the Philippine Sports Writers Association (PSA) at the Shakey’s UN Avenue branch in Manila. Little League Baseball Philippines (LLBP) Administrator Chito Gonzales said at least 90 teams from all over the country will participate in the sporting event, which will be held at the CDC Parade Grounds here. Eco-friendly 'Palaro In May

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Provincial Capitol is optimistic that the hosting of this year’s Palarong Pambansa will not only be the most high-tech but the most eco-friendly sports event ever staged in Luzon. This was expressed by members of the Special National Management Committee (ManCom) as they met on the hosting of the sports event at the Sison Auditorium, known as the Cultural Center of the North, recently. In the meeting attended by representatives of all 17 participating regions, the hosts vowed to exert all efforts to inject the value of loving the environment during the national event slated May 6 to 12. Police Scores Big In Kalinga

Authorities scored big in its fight against drugs as some P4 million worth of marijuana were destroyed in a raid on three plantations located in a remote area of Tinglayan town in Kalinga, a police official said Monday. Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr., spokesman of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said local policemen immediately swooped down in the area after confirming the tip-off about the plantations in the area. The raids, he said, occurred at around 11 a.m. in Sitio Ma-ob, Ak-akkan and Supitan, all in Barangay Buscalan. Seized were 15,000 full-grown marijuana plants worth P3 million and seedlings worth P800,000. (Aaron B. Recuenco)

Wescom Holds Talk On Diseases

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) — The Western Command and its health care service provider, Camp General Artemio Ricarte Station Hospital (CGARSH), conducted a half-day awareness drive on HIV-AIDS and Filariasis in support to the Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) “Bayanihan” in professionalizing the soldiers through continuous education, trainings, and seminars. A total of 30 soldiers and their dependents attended the seminar on February 3 at the WESCOM Officers’ Club House. The lecture on lymphatic filariasis, was conducted by Capt. Alekhine Tinio, Medical Officer of CGARSH.

DoH-Region 2 Hires 493 Nurses

TUGUEGARAO CITY (PIA) — Some 493 registered nurses (RNs) will be hired for the third batch of the Registered Nurses Health Enhancement and Local Services (RNHeals) program of the Department of Health (DOH) Region 2 to deliver health care services in the far flung areas. Sandra Sangab, head of the human resources department, said the project aims to improve the delivery of health care and social services in all areas in the region, especially in the hard-to-reach areas.
