16 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad; total now 9,208

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday reported 16 new confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases and nine new recoveries among Filipinos abroad, bringing the latest total count of confirmed cases of overseas-based nationals to 9,208.

In a report, the DFA said the new confirmed cases were recorded in Asia and the Pacific and Europe while the new recoveries were from Asia and the Pacific.

No new fatality was reported in its latest figures gathered from the different consulates, embassies and foreign missions abroad.

The DFA also confirms one new report from a country in Asia and the Pacific, bringing the total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos to 70.

Of the total, 3,167 are undergoing treatment, 5,378 have recovered and 647 have died of the coronavirus infection. 

Meanwhile, no new reports were received today from the Middle East and the Americas.

Also on Friday, the DFA announced the repatriation of 425 stranded and displaced Filipinos through separate chartered flights from Kuala Lumpur and Brussels. 

To date, the DFA said there are now over 100,000 Filipinos repatriated since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in February 2020.
