'Batang Bayani': Police cite two kids for foiling robbery attempt in Binangonan, Rizal

Two boys in Binangonan, Rizal were cited by the police as heroes for their help in preventing the burglary in a convenience store in the municipality sometime in February, this year.
Region 4-A Police director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth T. Lucas has conferred the “Batang Bayani Award” to the two young boys during his visit at the Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) headquarters in Taytay, Rizal on Monday, April 8.
The office of Rizal PPO director Col. Felipe Maraggun said the two kids were recognized by the Philippine National Police for their “exceptional bravery and civic-mindedness in aiding the police in preventing a robbery in Barangay Pag-asa in Binangonan on February 7, 2024.
Lucas, during his visit at the PPO, said the police gave the award to the two boys as an expression of gratitude for the duo’s ‘extraordinary courage and sense of responsibility.
Aside from the pair of shoes given by the police official, the boys also received scholarship grants from Mr. Jericho P. Orlina, president of A Better Chance Foundation and Centro Escolar University’s Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs.
The two boys also received incentives from Mr. Jerome Albert Bernal and Ms. Ruth Gonzales of the Provincial Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development.
“Their exemplary conduct not only upheld the values of heroism but also served as an inspiration to the power of community vigilance and cooperation,” Lucas said during the awarding rites.
"The Batang Bayani Award was initiated by the Police Regional Office 4-A to recognize and honor young individuals who demonstrate exceptional courage and civic responsibility in the face of adversity. It stands as a symbol of appreciation for those who embody the spirit of heroism and inspire others through their actions,” the office of Lucas stated.
