The Bangsamoro people are hungry for peace and development in Mindanao after years of war and poverty, Malacañang declared Tuesday in assessing the survey results showing majority of Muslims supported the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

(OPS / MANILA BULLETIN) Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said they hope the Bangsamoro people's aspiration would be attained once the Bangsamoro law is ratified in the plebiscite. "The Bangsamoro people have enough of war, terrorism and poverty. They hunger for peace and thirst for development in Mindanao," Panelo said. "The initial unofficial tally of the votes in the plebiscite appears to validate the survey results. We hope that the aspiration of our Muslim brothers and sisters for a peaceful and progressive Bangsamoro region will commence its realization following the ratification of the BOL," he said. Based on the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS), 79 percent of Muslims respondents favored the approval of the law creating the Bangsamoro autonomous region. The survey, conducted from December 16 to 19, 2018, showed 14 percent of the respondents were undecided while 7 percent disagreed with the BOL. President Duterte earlier asked the Bangsamoro community to support the measure in the plebiscite, saying it would help bring genuine peace and progress in the region. He urged them to "forget the bitterness of the past and look forward to the future.”
