Ebdane Keen On Sports Tourism
IBA, Zambales, Philippines — Zambales Governor Hermogenes Ebdane said he foresees Zambales at the forefront of athletics in the next few years and believes that sports tourism is the key to boosting tourism in the province. “We will continue to prioritize youth and sports development, through sports scholarships. We have worked out a full program that involves both academic excellence and athletic performance,” Ebdane said. He said the scholars will be housed here, where they will be studying and training. Youth Organized For 'EDSA Spirit'
MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — In celebrating on Saturday the 26th anniversary of the EDSA People Power 1 revolution, students of this province gathered for the launching of the “Yes for Peace – Bayanihan para sa Kapayapaan” movement. Organizer Ernesto A. Alcanzare said that peace initiative is a fitting tribute to the rare peaceful revolution that took place 26 years ago in the Philippines. Antipolo Acts To Ease Traffic
ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — The city government here is enjoining motorists to strictly observe traffic rules and regulations especially on national roads here as the provincial government is implementing a massive towing operation on illegally parked vehicles on major highways in the city. This came as Mayor Danilo Leyble ordered the City Public Information Office (CPIO) to conduct information campaign through the City Public Address System vehicle to warn motorists against parking their vehicles along the roadsides designated as no-parking zones. More Events At Bangus Festival
DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — The celebration of the Bangus Festival this year will be more exciting when some new activities are added to highlights of the event. Councilor Marc Bryan C. Lim, the celebration’s hermano mayor, said among the fun-filled activities is the opening of the food strip and tiangge on April 9. The festival opening ceremonies will formally usher in the month-long fete on Apr. 13 to be highlighted by the grand float parade Bangus ed Carosa gracing round downtown and to be fired up later by the “Kapuso Night.” There will also be sports events and treats for the kids. Peaceful And Vice-Free City
TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — Gambling will never rule this city again, Mayor Melandres G. de Sagun vowed Saturday as he lauded efforts of local officials and the police to sustain the city’s status as a gambling-free locality. De Sagun has credited this to his administration and the 10-man Sangguniang Panglungsod (City Council) led by Vice Mayor Alexander C. Lubigan that continue to monitor closely the enforcement of ordinances against the vices. Trece Martires is known as a locality with no lotto outlets or known illegal gambling operation since the term of the local chief executive’s father, former Mayor Melencio de Sagun. (Anthony Giron)
