Caloocan gets new police chief in 'routine reshuffle'; Mayor Malapitan airs concerns

He took over the seat of P/Col. Restituto Arcangel, who will become the chief of police of Marikina City. His appointment is part of the police’s "routine reshuffle," the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said. In an interview with reporters, Flores assured that extortion activities—which were allegedly done by several members of Pasay Police drug enforcement team during his time—will no longer happen in Caloocan police. Aside from the "trust and confidence" that he has on Caloocan police, he said, he will also "religiously focus" on supervising them. He added that the Philippine National Police “is now focusing on internal cleansing” and he will be kept updated about the activities of his personnel. Meantime, during the inauguration of the Caloocan People's Park on Wednesday evening, Mayor Oca Malapitan said that he already gave his marching orders to Flores, who paid him a courtesy call earlier that day. "Sinabi ko, ayaw ko ng video karera, ng tupada. Walang arboran sa drugs. Kapag drugs ang usapan, siguraduhin ," he said. Malapitan expressed concerns over regular replacements of police chief in Caloocan which lead to unfulfilled plans of every police chief in the city. "Di nagtatagal ang mga COP dito. Paano naman kung may program silang uumpisahan? Si Arcangel, 1 year and 4 months. Then bago nanaman. Another program nanaman," he said. "Baka mamaya itong bago...palitan nanaman. Sana 'di naman ganon. Di maka-move on sa mga plans kasi papalit palit ng COP," he added.
