Vice President Leni Robredo promised more livelihood assistance programs even as her office has to postpone face-to-face meetings and courtesy visits in light of the stricter community quarantine bubble in Metro Manila and nearby provinces for two weeks.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 24, Robredo noted that today was her last day of quarantine following a visit to Iloilo province last week.
“Last day of my quarantine today. While I worked from home during the break and have been productive, it’s not the same thing. Raring to go back to the office especially now that we have a gazillion things to do because of the surge,” she said.
The vice president has been working from home while in quarantine. On Sunday, she was able to host her radio program over dzXL to tackle the pressing issues in the country.
Robredo said her office would not conduct face-to-face meetings and courtesy visits in the next two weeks “in keeping with the IATF directive.”
“Rest assured, we will reschedule them when things get a little better. But our programs continue. In fact, we’re launching new ones to help combat the surge. Stay tuned,” she added.
The lady official was referring to the announcement of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to place Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, and Rizal under general community quarantine until April 4 to address the surge in COVID-19 cases.
On Monday, the Philippines recorded its highest number of positive cases with 8,019 after breaking the 7,000-mark from March 19 to 21.
The four areas are in a “bubble” with only workers and those buying essential goods are allowed to go outside their areas of residence.
Since March last year, the OVP has provided livelihood assistance to lower-income families, and distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) sets to both private and public medical facilities.
Meanwhile, to lighten the mood, the vice president shared a photo of her family’s English bulldog named Rocco.
The photo was actually a screengrab from a local pet grooming business in Quezon City, but Robredo said she wanted to show Rocco off.
“And para maiba lang (And to lighten the mood), posting a picture of our Rocco. We saw this posted on the IG story of Aromapets and screen-grabbed it. I hope they won’t mind. We bring Rocco to them for grooming,” she said.
