Due to the inclement weather brought by Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), several tourism activities in the Cordillera region has been suspended by the local tourism department.
These include the climbing activities in Mount Pulag and Mount Purgatory in Benguet effective since August 8; the caving tours in Sagada, Mountain Province effective since August 10; and hiking at Ar-arbis Falls and Lusuac Spring Resort in Lagayan, Abra which also took effect last August 10.
The local tourism office, through a travel advisory, also discourages travelers not to go trekking, biking, and other-tourism related activities in other tourist destinations in the region as some road sections remained closed until now due to traffic or one lane is only passable due to minor landslides.
Jovita Ganongan, Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of Department of Tourism (DOT) Cordillera, also advised accommodation establishment owners to closely monitor the weather forecast to properly guide their guests.
The advisory was released last August 14, Wednesday through their official social media page.
