Model Teachers Of Quezon Cited
LUCENA CITY, Quezon — About 12,000 public school teachers in this province gathered recently for a convention in this city during which Governor David C. Suarez handed awards under the theme “Education for Peace.”
Among those hailed as Most Outstanding Teachers of the Year in both elementary and high school levels were Buenaventura Luces, Kendrick Cabriga, Roberto Telada, Luz Garcia, Isidro Obmasca Jr., Herbert Perez, Basilisa Hernandez, Reynaldo Cacho, Wilbert Porteza, Arnold Arellano, Mylene Cosico, Gregorio Racelis and Merlita Natividad. Women's Month In San Pablo
SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna — Reflecting on the immense contribution of women, SM City here celebrated Women’s Month by honoring their roles in raising a family, fostering community, and nation-building.
Nina Wong-Rada, SM City information officer, said this year’s celebration was highlighted with an art exhibit about women by San Pablenos local artists of Kulay ng Pitong Lawa. Rada said the exhibit featured compelling artworks about women empowerment and gender equality in various practices, mechanisms and gender-sensitive values. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
Antipolo Picking Heads For P.D.A.O.
ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — The city government here has recognized the effort of the group of persons with disability (PWD) in this city to uplift the lives of the sector of the disabled here through the nomination of officials who will head the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO).
Eljoy Lagan, spokesman of the Antipolo PWDs, said the 16 heads of the Federation of Persons with Disability nominated three of their members during a meeting the other day. The nominees are Emmanuel Fonte of Barangay Mambugan; Maryjance Bebanco of San Luis, a BS Architecture graduate; and Mathios Tolentino of Barangay San Isidro. (Nel B. Andrade)
Pangasinan Drums Up ‘Triple Treat’
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The biggest assortment of activities this summer awaits tourists visiting this province as it prepares for a “triple treat” in the celebration of the “Agew na Pangasinan,” “Pista’y Dayat,” and the “Palarong Pambansa” slated this coming April and May.
The celebration of the Agew na Pangasinan will kick off on April 11, highlighting the 432nd founding anniversary of the province. Dubbed the “Mother of all Festivals in Region 1,” the Pista’y Dayat will stage events from April 11 to May 1. F

Bulacan Honors Don Mariano Ponce
BALIUAG, Bulacan — “Our observance of Don Mariano Ponce’s birth anniversary reminds the Filipino youth of the many patriots who could serve as their role and one of the best models for them.”
Thus, said Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy Alvarado as he announced yesterday that the province, in cooperation with the National Historical Commission, the Bulacan Tourism Council and SM City here, commemorates the 149th Birth Anniversary of Don Mariano Ponce.
With the theme, “Pamanang Diwa ni Mariano Ponce,” a week-long celebration is set to honor the Baliwag-born national hero beginning today. (Freddie C. Velez)
