D.A.R. Opens P30-M Mountain Road
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio delos Reyes led last Friday the opening of the newly completed P30-million “mountain highway” connecting the upland towns of Santol, Bacnotan, and San Gabriel; all in La Union, it was learned Saturday here.
Delos Reyes, who joined by La Union Congressman Victor Ortega during the opening ceremony, told the highway, with a stretch of 5.5 kilometers, is part of the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project which benefits agrarian reform communities. The highway will benefit at least 5,000 persons living in the mountain barangays. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
C.L. upbeat for collection goal
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) moved yesterday its 2012 tax campaign in Central Luzon to help raise P1.066 trillion this year. Local officials in six provinces, businessmen, professionals and officials and employees of the Revenue Region No. 4 headed by Regional Director Araceli Francisco led the kick-off rites at the Clark Airbase in Angeles City.
Francisco expressed her gratitude to taxpayers in Pampanga, Tarlac, Bataan, Zambales, Nueva Ecija and Quezon for being prompt and more honest in declaring their earnings and paying coorect taxes. Last year, her office raised P14 billion or over P1 billion higher than the collection target. (Jun Ramirez)
No noon break in Antipolo
ANTIPOLO CITY — The city government here vowed over the weekend to adhere to laws for efficient public service as it strictly implements the “no noon break” policy in all its offices. As such, the public can expect that the city government’s frontline services such as Business Permit and Licensing Office, and the City Treasurer’s Office are open any time between 8 a.m. and 5 pm.
Mayor Danilo Leyble said the policy is in adherence to Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 and the memoranda of the Civil Service Commission. (Nel B. Andrade)
Dominguez finds allies in senate
ABUCAY, Bataan — Provincial Board Member Dexter Dominguez, popularly known as comedian “Teri Onor,” has brought additional millions to fund infrastructure projects here by finding allies in the Senate in recent years.
The latest fund secured by Dominguez was P1.7 million for the construction of the Colo Barangay Hall in Dinalupihan town which was facilitated by Senator Antonio Trillanes III. This is in addition to the Day Care Center project in Barangay Mulawin funded through the courtesy of Sen. Loren Legarda. (Mar T. Supnad)

IMUS, Cavite — The 1,671-strong Cavite Police Provincial Office is celebrating Women’s Month with morning and afternoon women’s sports events at Camp Gen. Pantaleon Garcia, here, tomorrow. It will be the first time that the PPO celebrates Women’s Month with a program and day-long funfare at the camp.
