F.A.B. Launches Search For Logo

MARIVELES, Bataan — Officials of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) is courting more investors to put up shops here as they launched the search for new FAB Logo next week to suit its image as a major free port.

“The FAB Brand will provide the visual representation to encapsulate what the FAB stands for and seek to achieve,” said AFAB Chairman and Administrator Deogracias G.P. Custodio.

In designing the FAB Brand, the AFAB consulted its stakeholders and the general public and even studied international brands and trends to help create the FAB logo design that would be most appealing and meaningful to FAB stakeholders, the public and potential investors, said Custodio. Public Consulted On Golf Course

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Public scoping was conducted over the weekend at the Domalandan Center Elementary School here on the proposed 18-hole Lingayen Golf Course project by the provincial government. Officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) and Ajanta Consulting and Technical Services, Inc. participated in the environmental review process.

Through public scoping, the public is informed about activities that involve any action and solicit their comments regarding the proposed action which about the construction of the golf course that will affect the western barangays of Sabangan, Estanza, Malimpuec, and Capandanan. Mild Quake

SINAIT, Ilocos Sur — A mild earthquake which registered only at a magnitude 3.2 hit Laoag City Sunday morning, causing no casualties or any damage to property, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) satellite office based here reported.

Local Phivolcs Researcher Porferio Peralta said the 3.2 magnitude occured at 7:10 a.m. with epicenter at 69 kilometers northeast of Laoag City in Ilocos Norte with a depth of 85 kilometers. Phivolcs said that no intensity recorded and no aftershock to be expected. (Freddie G. Lazaro)

Tourists’ Security Ensured In Rizal

TANAY, Rizal — Bus loads of local and foreign tourists are expected to troop to this scenic town of the province this summer prompting the police to map out security measures for the safety of the town’s visitors.

This came as Supt. Felipe Abigan, chief of police here has already deployed personnel at various resorts and tourist destinations in the city as part of the “Implan Lakbay Alalay,” a security plan now being implemented as directed by the Rizal Police Provincial Office.

Abigan said the police community precincts where the tourist spots in this town are located will be primarily responsible in taking care of the security in their respective areas of responsibility. (Nel B. Andrade)

Graduation Is Free – C.H.E.D., DEP.ED.

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga — The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) here have renewed their warning against schools in the region that plan to charge mandatory excessive graduation fees from their students.

“Public school officials cannot collect any kind of graduation fees from students graduating this March, as collecting any kind of fees to enable the student to graduate or attend the graduation exercises is a violation of the “no collection” policy of the DepEd and CHEd,” said the two government office in their joint statement.
