Prelate warns faithful against fake priests in Antipolo

Diocese of Antipolo Bishop Franciso De Leon (Diocese of Antipolo Website / FILE PHOTO / MANILA BULLETIN) Diocese of Antipolo Bishop Franciso De Leon (Diocese of Antipolo Website / FILE PHOTO / MANILA BULLETIN) "This is to warn you against a spate of fake priests who are scamming parishioners for money and gift cards, supposedly for good causes," said Diocese of Antipolo Bishop Francisco De Leon in a circular letter issued recently. De Leon said that fake priests have been "causing problems and difficulties in some parishes in our diocese." "We are not allowing them to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in our diocese not are we giving them faculties in our diocese," said the prelate. The prelate called on the clergy to report to their Chancery the individuals who pose as a priest. "Please warn your parishioners...and report to our Chancery any fake priest celebrating masses or house blessings or asking for money or gift cards," said De Leon. "In case you invite guest priest/s to say mass in your parish, politely ask their celebret to verify their status," he added.
