ILOILO CITY — A subsidiary of San Miguel Corp. (SMC) will build a P6.7-billion plant in Leganes town, Iloilo.

“We look forward to our growing presence in the Visayas,” said Ramon S. Ang, SMC president, and COO.
Ang and Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon led the Friday groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility of San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB), the country’s leading beer producer, in Gua-an village.
“This major development is an important part of San Miguel’s current expansion in key regions nationwide. With this investment, we hope to accelerate the region’s overall growth and bring more jobs” Ang said.
SMB President Roberto Huang said the 20-hectare facility in Leganes will hasten the availability of its popular beer brands to consumers not only in Iloilo but the rest of the Western Visayas region.
Also at the groundbreaking were Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., Mayor Vicente Jaen II, Iloilo 2nd District Rep. Michael Gorriceta, Iloilo Vice Gov. Christine Garin, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas, Barangay Captain Alberto Capajay Jr., and several key business leaders.
SMB will soon complete its new brewery in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, while its bottling facility in Santa Rosa, Laguna, will be converted into a full-fledged brewery.
The firm also has breweries in Bacolod, Davao del Sur, Mandaue, Pampanga, and Valenzuela.
