Kapampangan Museum
ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — The Center for Kapampangan Studies (K-Center) here opened the other day the “Kapampangan Arts Museum” which is dedicated to preserve and promote local Kapampangan heritage.
The opening of the museum is in line with the celebration of the center’s 10th anniversary which will feature sketches and memorabilia collection of Kapampangan National Artist for Visual Arts in 1982 Vicente “Enteng” Manansala y Silva of San Roque, Macabebe town. Manansala was a Philippine cubist painter and illustrator and a native of Macabebe.
He studied at the University of the Philippines School of Fine Arts and received a six-month grant by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to study at the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Banff and Montreal, Canada. (Mark Anthony N. Manuel)
Rizal Livelihood
JALAJALA, Rizal — This lakeshore municipality of the province is empowering the sector of the physically challenged with livelihood opportunities and self sufficiency program in line with the local government’s poverty alleviation program.
This came as some 400 members of the town’s Federation of Persons With Disability (FPWD) were given the chance to start various livelihood projects including goat raising and milking.
Virginia Belleza, head of the local social welfare office which has jurisdiction over the supervision of the FPWD here, said the livelihood projects have been entrusted to the officials of the physically challenged in each of the town’s 11 barangays. (Nel B. Andrade)
Angeles College
ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — “The City College of Angeles (CCA) is making excellent progress in its construction and its 42 classrooms and laboratories could be seen fully utilized by the second semester of academic year 2012-2013.”
Thus said Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, who is also the chairman of the recently created Board of Trustees (BOT) of the CCA. The CCA board confirmed that the college will be accepting enrollees for the next school year.
Classes for the first semester of school year 2012-2013 will initially be conducted at the third floor of the Angeles City Library while construction of the CCA at Barangay Pampang is still ongoing. (Franco G. Regala)
Skills Training
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — A skills training program was recently launched by the Redondo Peninsula Energy, Inc. (RP Energy) which aims to uplift the economic status of the relocated residents of Sitio Naglatore in Subic, Zambales. Dubbed as the “Galing Pinoy” program, the endeavor is in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Zambales.
This will provide families relocated from Sitio Naglatore training sessions that will focus on Shielded Metal Arc Wielding, Carpentry, Masonry, and Electrical Installation and Maintenance. (Jonas Reyes)
Clark Congress
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga — The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) hosted the National Goat and Sheep Congress this year. The Department of Agriculture (DA) said 1,000 goat and sheep raising practitioners, advocates and enthusiasts from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao converged in Clark Freeport the other day to discuss topics in the local goat and sheep industry.
DA Field Office III information officer Jun Espiritu said the three-day confab seeks to serve as an avenue for the exchange of ideas among the stakeholders of goat and sheep raising which will enhance the industry and address issues currently affecting their sector. (Mark Anthony N. Manuel)
