SAN JOSE, Batangas — Police killed in a shootout here on Thursday the alleged leader of a local drug syndicate operating in Batangas.

The Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the fatality as Rodolfo Macalindong, alias “Rojun,” who was killed around 1:45 p.m. while exchanging fire with police from inside his white Mitsubishi Lancer (WAZ-968) on Makalintal Avenue, Barangay Taysan, this town.
The PPO said police who engaged Macalindong in a shootout were in possession of three warrants against the suspect.
After subduing Macalindong, police took him to the San Jose District Hospital, but he died while undergoing treatment.
It was learned that he was the alleged leader of the Macalindong Drug Group and one of the suspects in the killing of Senior Police Officer 1 Bryan De Jesus last May in Balayan town, this province.
