Director Wenn V. Deramas offers an Easter treat entitled "Moron 5 and a Crying Lady," it stars five good-looking actors out to prove their comedic talents: Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford, DJ Durarno and Marvin Agustin. And their leading lady: John "Sweet" Lapus! Sweet plays the "Crying Lady."

During a recent set visit in New Manila, Quezon City, "Sweet" excitedly said: "For the first time, I am playing the role of a woman in this movie. This is a role I’ve been waiting for a long time."

As to who among the five handsome actors he would like to be teamed up with romantically, Sweet said "puwede na akong maging kabit ni Luis, papayag naman siguro si Jennylyn (Mercado)…" But among the five, he said that the most "endowed" is Billy Crawford.

From a screenplay by Mel del Rosario, "Moron 5" is the story of five half-witted friends wrongly convicted of murder.

Luis is Albert (as in Einstein), Billy is Isaac (Newton), Marvin is Aristotle (Onassis or the great philosopher?), DJ is Mozart (who else but the musical genius?), and Martin in Michaelangelo (the artist behind the famous painting in the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel).

One of the most hilarious scenes in the movie shows the "Moron 5" as they bolt prison, disguise as Madame Auring, BB Gandanghari, a taho vendor, a 5-6 Bombay and a greying driver.

"Moron 5 and a Crying Lady" is a joint venture between Viva Films and MVP Pictures. It opens on April 7 (Black Saturday) in more than 100 theaters.

French Singer’s Album Now Available

French singer-songwriter Julien Drolon fell so in love with the Philippines that he wrote songs about the country and produce it into a six-track EP entitled "Phil So Good," which is now available online (iTunes, Amazon).

The lyrics of the song (in French, English and Tagalog) speak of Julien’s appreciation of the Philippines and the places he visited in the country.

The music video of "Phil So Good" was released worldwide last March 21. Shot in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, it features Julien in various famous tourist spots of the country.

A journalist too, Julien first came over in 2007 when he was still working as an international reporter for USA Today, The Economist and New York Times magazine. Soon after, he realized his big dream was to become an international song artist.
