Mobile Clinic

IBA, Zambales — Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. has ordered provincial health officials to finalize the provincial government’s mobile clinic program in order to reach out to more Zambaleños and provide them with faster and better health services.

“Our next step is to bring health and medical services directly to the barangays through the mobile clinic we soon are going to have,” Ebdane said.

“A bus to be outfitted as a mobile clinic and equipped with a portable X-ray machine and maybe an ultrasound machine, is our next project in our agenda to establish better health and medical services in our province,” the governor told Zambaleños during a medical caravan here last week. Nature Trek

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — A 40-kilometer nature trek where participants used cameras was held in honor and recognition of the valuable contributions of the late botanist Leonard Co at the Bataan Technological and Industrial Park (BTIP) in Morong, Bataan.

Dubbed as the Mount Natib Flora Adventure Hunt, the trek ended on Sunday when the last of the 17 participating four-member teams crossed the finish line at BTIP. The race started a day before at the Sinagtala Farm Resort in Orani, Bataan.

Participants weaved their way across the vast caldera of the dormant volcano. The hunt was envisioned to promote Bataan Natural Park as a model of environmental protection and eco-tourism, to continue the education and media awareness of various stakeholders in environmental advocacies, eco-tourism promotion and healthy lifestyle, and to highlight the need to utilize technology in environmental monitoring. House Gift

TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite — Cadet Marjorie Alcaraz Samson got a new house as a gift from the local government for having been this year’s valedictorian of  the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) graduating class.

Samson, 25, received the house ownership certificate from Mayor Bambol Tolentino and other administration officials during yesterday’s flag ceremony at the city hall grounds.

The awarding of the house, worth P500,000, is part of the city government’s “Batang Tagaytay Pabahay'' (Outstanding Youth Housing) Project in Barangay Kaybagal North. (Anthony Giron)

Antipolo Security

ANTIPOLO CITY (PIA) — The city government of Antipolo convened recently 35 resort owners to tackle security and safety measures with the onset of the summer season when tourists are expected to flock to this summer resort.

“There is a need to form an association of resort owners in Antipolo, so we will support this through monitoring, mobilization for the security, and backing of the planned tourism center beside the church,” said Mayor Nilo Leyble.

During the meeting, the mayor explained the responsibility of the city government to promote the resorts through a proposed website and monitoring to assure registered resorts of the necessary security measures.

‘Kariton’ Project

CAVITE CITY (PNA) — Close to 1,000 poor children in this city gained access to formal education following the launch of the “Kariton Revolution” project by CNN Hero of the Year Efren Penaflorida and his partners.

Project coordinator Remy Ordonez said most of the young beneficiaries come from the most depressed communities in the city. Kariton Revolution, which aims to to educate children who lack access to formal education, was launched at the Ladislao Diwa Elementary School in this city second week of March this year, Ordonez said.
