ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)’s Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) has set up16 regional Career Guidance Counselors Network (CGCN) in the country, according to BLE officer-in-charge Evelyn O. Dacumos, who said the network has an important role in providing students, parents, teachers and the public with the right information on the labor market in order to address job mismatch in the country.
“We now have 2,580 guidance counselors and still counting, to help us solve job mismatch since the CGCN was conceptualized in 2008,” she said. DOLE-6 director Ponciano M. Ligutom conducted a dialogue with guidance counselors of private and public schools in Capiz to strengthen the CGCN in the province.
Toursit’s Security
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo, (PNA) — Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. assured tourists of their security while in Iloilo this Holy Week with Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) personnel deployed through the province to ensure their safety.
Defensor issued this assurance in anticipation of the influx of devotees and foreign tourists visiting different churches in the province to pray and join processions. Ilonggos come home to watch Lenten presentations and other activities in such places as Dumangas, Barotac Viejo, Sta. Barbara and other towns in Iloilo province, especially during Good Friday.
Defensor said he will be in Manila during the Holy Week but said he already has directed IPPO director Gil Lebin to ensure peace and order in the province.
Computer Units
MANDAUE CITY, Cebu (PNA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has turned over seven computer units to the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) to start its electronic blotter system. The MCPO headquarters and six police stations in Mandaue will get a computer unit each.
The e-blotter system will modernize data storage and facilitate quicker transmission of data between police offices. Instead of the usual logbook, police officers will now record blotters in a computer. The e-blotter system was developed by the PNP central office in Camp Crame.
E-Learning Seminar
DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — Negros Oriental and Cebu school teachers and administrators participated in a regional eLearning seminar hosted by Silliman University recently.
Spearheaded by the College of Computer Studies (CCS), the regional seminar of the Philippine eLearning Society (PeLS) served as venue for participants in discussing topics on tools, trends and methodologies in eLearning.
The training aimed to promote eLearning in carrying out the tri-focal function of instruction, research and extension among academic institutions.
Ginger Production
PINABACDAO, Samar (PIA) — Ginger producers in this town may just be able to rise from poverty especially with the assurance from a big Japanese buyer who has expressed interest in purchasing the producers’ products in bulk, according to Pinabacdao Mayor Mario Quijano who spoke recently with local media at the Farmers Training Center in Pinabacdao where some 100 women under the Pantawid Pamilya program gathered to mark Women’s Day.
