Makati City records 141 confirmed COVID-19 cases

By Jel Santos There are 141 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), 14 deaths, and 17 recoveries in Makati City as of 8 a.m. of April 8, the Makati Health Department (MHD) said. On the other hand, MHD said the city now has a total of 472 persons under investigation (PUIs), and 337 persons under monitoring (PUMs). Based on the data of the local government, the barangay with most number of COVID-19 cases is Poblacion with a total of 20. Next to it is San Lorenzo with 14 confirmed cases. The local government urged those who believe that they contracted COVID-19 to immediately call 168 or (02) 8236-5790. To help in fighting the dreaded disease, Mayor Abigail "Abby" Binay has called on her constituents to stay at home during the span of the enhanced community quarantine. The city government, according to her, is doing everything to make residents not to leave their homes, saying they are also delivering medicines to the most vulnerable residents, aside from giving financial assistance. Moreover, she encouraged all residents to observe the "Otso-Otso" cleaning habit to help in the battle against COVID-19. Operational business establishments in the city are also enjoined to practice the disinfection program, Binay said.
