Multi-Purpose Court
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte — An Waray Rep. Florencio Noel said the just-inaugurated P250,000 multi-purpose covered court built atop Brgy. 30’s Calvary Hill, this city, is an added attraction serving devotees and tourists alike visiting the religious place.
Calvary Hill is a tourist and religious spot where devotees go for “The Way of the Cross” during Holy Week. Life-size statues depicting the 14 Stations of the Cross and that of the Risen Lord Jesus Christ is a popular tourist draw here. (Restituto A. Cayubit)
Price Monitoring
KALIBO, Aklan (PIA6) — Aklan’s Provincial Local Price Coordinating Council (PLPCC) plans to conduct public market visits to check if weighing scales used by vendors are tampered or not. The plan was brought up during a PLPCC aimed at ensuring that market goers consistently get their money’s worth when buying food at public markets.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Aklan Provincial Director Diosdado P. Cadena Jr. said a way to ensure that weighing scales are in good condition is by calibrating them. He said DTI-Aklan has posted price bulletins at selected Aklan public markets to inform consumers of current prices of goods in the market.
Infrastructure Projects
DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — The provincial government here is set to construct infrastructure and development projects worth P11 million in Guihulngan City’s barangays. This was disclosed by Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo during his recent visit to the city to meet with the village chiefs there.
Provincial government-funded projects will include roads construction and installation of water systems, classrooms, multi-purpose pavements and electricity. The projects were set for construction early this year but postponed when a 6.9-magnitude tremor hit the province in February.
Consumer Survey
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) — The National Statistics Office (NSO) in Region 8 is conducting the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-funded April 2012 Consumer Expectations Survey in Eastern Visayas. Leyte, Southern Leyte, Samar and Eastern Samar provinces are being surveyed.
In Leyte, five sample barangays are included such as Brgy. Tabunok, Bato; Brgys. Manloy and Poblacion Zone I, Capoocan; Brgy. Hilusig, Mahaplag; and Brgy. Nasunogan, Ormoc City. The is aimed at providing regular assessment of consumers’ perceptions and expenditure plans to be used as a tool in evaluating consumers’ financial situation, key economic indicators and economic condition within a reference period.
R.N. Heals Program
KALIBO, Aklan (PIA6) — Nurses hired by the Department of Health (DOH) under government’s Registered Nurses for Health Enhancement and Local Services (RNHeals) program have been serving in their respective areas of assignments since March 15 of this year, according to Dr. Cornelio Cuachon of the Provincial Health Office here.
Cuachon revealed this in the recent meeting of the Kalusugang Pangkalahatan (KP) Multi-Sectoral Task Force held here. The nurses, numbering 100, were deployed to Aklan’s 19 Rural Health Units (RHUs). They will be serving for a year in these RHUs.
