Angeles Scholar Makes Magna Cum Laude

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — As evidence to the city’s commitment in providing quality education to deserving students, a government scholar here recently finished his degree at Angeles University Foundation as Cum Laude.

Justin Yves Gozun, a 21-year old Nursing student has been under the Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) scholarship program during the entire duration of his 4- year-college education. Gozun receives scholarship assistance of P20,000 every semester to supplement the funding for his education. All he needs to do is to maintain a grade point average of 85 every semester. (Franco G. Feeding Program In Taytay Cited

TAYTAY, Rizal — Kids in a depressed community here are now the target of a feeding program organized by police station here as part of their police-community relations program. Superintendent Arthur Masungsong, chief of police here will lead uniformed police men and women here in a feeding program today at Block 5 and 6 of Sitio Arienda in Barangay Sta. Ana for some 500 children.

This program, dubbed by policemen as “Pospas ng Pulis Para sa Kalusugan ng mga Bata” involves the serving of hot soup to kids of poor communities for this summer months. (Nel B. Andrade)

1,677 Day Care Pupils Graduate

SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)- Day Care here will have 1,677 pupils graduating from different barangays this year, it was learned yesterday. Each classroom put together an educational program that teaches 3-4 years-old kids socialization and the basics of education.

The five-day graduation ceremony held at SM City San Pablo will be end on Saturday where each kid will receive their Day Care diploma. Day Care graduates will start kindergarten next school year. City Administrator Loreto Amante will be the guest speaker. (Ferdinand F. Castro)

P.P.O.: Imus Posts Record Peace

IMUS, Cavite — Peace and order gained headway in this capitol town with the day and night operations being conducted by the local police in the area. The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported that the 86-strong Imus police force under Supt. Herson H. Mojica has brought down the town’s incidents in the first quarter of the year by 60 percent as compared to the number that was recorded in the same period last year.

The decrease was the best ever performance of a police station among the province’s four cities and 19 towns in terms of incident volume, performance and accomplishments. (Anthony Giron)

Science Scholars Eyed To Teach

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga — The Department of Education (DepEd) here said that it will prioritize the hiring of science scholars to teach in public high schools.

DepEd said that under Memorandum No. 55 series of 2012, it was mandated the priority hiring of teachers who graduated as science scholars, to directly address the critical need for Science and Mathematics teachers in public high schools, Education Secretary Br. Armin A. Luistro said in a statement that Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) scholars should be in the priority list of DepEd Regional Directors when hiring new teachers in public secondary schools.
