‘Moron 5’ Expected
To Earn P100-M
The Viva Films/MVP Productions movie “Moron 5 and the Crying Lady” is expected to gross more than P100 million this week! As of this writing, it has already grossed P65 million!
The hilarious movie, directed by box-office director Wenn V. Deramas, stars Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford, Martin Escudero, DJ Durano and Marvin Agustin as the five dim-witted friends, with John “Sweet” Lapus as the “Crying Lady” who sues the five for the murder of her rich father!
Today, John Lapus is considered as one of the country’s top comedians.
“I owe this to my having been a stage performer,” John explained. “Being a stage actor gives you all the discipline you need! You study the craft so well, that when you translate it for film acting, you feel the great difference it makes – excellent performance!”
John further explained: “When I do my role in a movie, I do not think of how much the movie will make in the box-office. I only think of my performance! I do not even think of competition!”
Comedians are known to have their own seasons, and probably, this is now John’s “time!”
“Well, it could probably be my time now,” John said jokingly.
John is a very close and trusted friend of Kris Aquino. “Kris is so intelligent and frank,” John described her. “If you do not know Kris well enough, you get intimidated!”
Reminiscing his father, veteran journalist Jojo Lapus, he said that he must be so happy now where he is. The journalist father vehemently objected to John’s being a gay especially when he started playing gay roles on stage and in the movies.
Definitely, John Lapus is making a great impact in the local entertainment world!
