Tricycle driver hacked to death during drinking session in Quezon

UNISAN, Quezon – A 39-year-old tricycle driver sustained 11 stab wounds after he was attacked by his drinking buddy on Tuesday morning, Jan 17, in Barangay F. De Jesus in this town.

The victim was identified as Jennifer Basco, a resident of Barangay Ilayang Cabulihan in this town, while the suspect was Michael Amandy, 36, a farm caretaker and a resident of Barangay Burgos also of this town.

The suspect voluntarily surrendered to Unisan Police Station.

While having a drinking session at around 4 a.m., the victim and the suspect engaged in a heated argument that led to the latter pulling off his bolo.

The suspect then hacked the victim successively, hitting the different parts of the body, the police report said.

The victim was brought to Unisan Medicare Community Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators are still trying to determine the suspect’s motive while preparing the criminal complaint.
