P.C.L. Congress
MANDAUE CITY – Cebu is bracing for a huge delegation of board members from Luzon and Mindanao for their Visayas Island Congress to be held at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) next month.
Cebu Provincial Board Member Carmen Remedios Durano-Meca, president of the Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL) Cebu Province, said she received communications from counterparts in Luzon and Mindanao that they will not be joining their respective island congresses this year but instead head to the Visayas PCL Congress to be hosted by PCL-Cebu Province. Road Show
ILOILO CITY — The disclosure of statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs) is part of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III’s program in government transparency and accountability. This was disclosed by Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda during the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO) road show in Iloilo City last Thursday.
Lacierda, who was with Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte, said that transparency and accountability is the main reason why SALN disclosure is being pushed by Malacañang in its version of the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill.
Earlier this year, the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) found majority of lawmakers in the House of Representatives failed to disclose their SALNs. (Tara Yap)
