Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo made the statement after the recent Pulse Asia survey results showed that 93 percent of Filipinos will welcome the new year with hope and positivity.
In a statement Saturday, Panelo said the Palace was confident that the people will continue supporting the Duterte government in 2020, especially with what it has achieved this year.
He also assured the public that the government has a lot in store for them.
"Filipinos indeed have so much to look forward to in 2020 under the current administration," he said.
"As we enter the new year, this Administration remains confident that our people will continue to rally behind the government towards genuine change as we wish each Filipino a happy, peaceful and successful 2020," he added.
Exemplary year
Panelo described 2019 as exemplary for the Philippines, noting that President Duterte implemented difficult but game-changing reforms.
"The President has truly invested in his political capital wisely with - upon the recommendation of his economic team - difficult but game-changing reforms, such as the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law, as well as the Build, Build, Build Infrastructure Program, among others, which are important in achieving our goal of bringing a more comfortable life for all Filipinos," he said.
"Last April, we received a BBB+ investment rating (a notch away from A rating and the highest credit rating the Philippines has received) which is an expression of confidence on the leadership and administration of President Duterte," he added.
The Palace official likewise said the government made headway in its poverty alleviation efforts that even the President's critics cannot "deny that the number of poor Filipinos declined faster than expected in the last three years."
Based on data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, poverty incidence in the country dropped to 16.6 percent last year from 23.3 percent in 2015, translating to 5.9 million Filipinos lifted out of poverty.
