Acorda orders intel, IMEG to help in manhunt vs 5 MPD cops tagged in robbery, extortion

Police Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has instructed the intelligence group and the anti-errant cops unit to assist in the conduct of manhunt against five policemen who were implicated in the alleged robbery extortion on a computer shop owner in Manila. PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said Acorda is expecting that the five Manila Police District (MPD) policemen would be accounted for this week, especially that they were already declared to be on AWOL (absent without official leave) by the MPD leadership. “Our Chief PNP has already instructed the Intelligence Group (IG) and the IMEG (Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group) to help in the conduct of the manhunt operation against these five policemen,” said Fajardo. “Hopefully, there would be positive results this week and the District Director of MPD, Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon, is also confident that with the help of the IG and IMEG, they would be able to get them,” she added. They were identified as Staff Sergeants Ryan Tagle Paculan and Jan Erwin Santiago Isaac; Corporal Jonmark Gonzales Dabucol; Patrolmen Jeremiah Sesma Pascual and Jhon Lester Reyes Pagar. They are assigned with the MPD-District Police Intelligence Operations Unit (DPIOU). The five cops, with the help of a female asset, allegedly stormed a computer shop in Sampaloc District owned by a 73-year old man and took all his money. The shop owner was also allegedly ordered to pay P4,000 weekly for protection. Fajardo said criminal and administrative charges were already slapped against the five policemen. She added that the MPD also sent policemen to the victims as security. “We are calling on these five policemen to surrender to their immediate supervisor and face the charges,” said Fajardo. The involvement of the five policemen in the incident would also result in the relief of around 50 policemen assigned to the DPIOU, including its head.  “I understand they will be replaced, including their chief, because they were ordered to explain on how these five policemen were able to conduct robbery extortion activities under their noses,”said Fajardo.
